Since the DiyScene Street Team's theme this month is UPCYCLED, I decided to use something I've been holding onto forever. I found this fantastic brand new shirt at a thrift store some time ago and could not bear to cut it...until now! It has an unusual pattern which reminds me of the following: Grecian, Victorian, Edwardian, Goth, Indian (see the meandering paisley pattern?). With such an unusual combination it took me a while to formulate a design.

So, I cut off the sleeves and part of the neck, and the lower half of the cotton shirt. I added a dark eggplant/inky purple net lace to the neckline, adorning the lace with a faux antique button that relates to the underlying shirt pattern. Next I added ruffly elastic to the armholes, and to the entire bottom (the lace is in the front and back), a pretty black floral stretch lace that also mirrors the design.

Sorry for the long explanation, but I really really REALLY love this top! And even though this is my Haute Indiscretion store, I couldn't resist putting it on a turquoise background - it just looked better. :D Item pinned back on mannequin.
