Little Vetch Bottle

Description

This is a white stoneware bottle fired to cone 6. The interior and neck are glazed with a mottled, light green glaze. The color is green with dark speckles and light green streaking. Where the glaze is thicker, the color is jade green. It was made on a wheel.

The bottle stands 3 and 1/4 inches tall and is 6 and 6/8 inches around at the widest section. The base tapers down to 1 and 6/8 inches across.

The outside has been texturized and imprinted with leaves. It was then painted and rubbed with iron oxide to intensify the leaf imprints. Once fired, the colors are permanent and waterproof. The leaves used were vetch, oregano, eastern redbud, red maple, sage, japanese maple, passion flower, chaste, and hops.
