This bulky singles yarn was lovingly handspun and dyed by myself. The dyes used are of a professional grade and chosen for their excellent light and wash fastness. This skein comes in variegated shades of deep rich reds and scarlet, interspersed with bits of white. The monitor makes it look more pink than it is.

I love singles yarns and prefer them for many reasons..

Single yarns have a simple earthiness to them that I adore. Historically most yarns spun were spun as singles. With resources and money tight, in times gone by there had to be a VERY good reason to ply a yarn as it takes double the time and materials...and singles were used in everything from weaving to knitting.

Single yarns show color much better than plied yarns, they are also softer, warmer and loftier. Singles yarns are an excellent choice if you are planning on felting your knitted or crocheted items. My single yarns are very well balanced and strong. I use a mix of corriedale and merino wool for strength and softness.

Lastly,spinning single yarns allows me to keep my costs down as they require half the work and materials as do plied.
