Hat Scarf Set - Bubbles in Wool Felt

Description

In this hat and scarf set, teal wool felt bubbles in varying sizes float across the surface of steele blue and charcoal wool blend felt. The scarf sports long teal droplets in addition to the bubble.

The hat base was machine sewn, the bubbles and embroidery on the brim are hand sewn. The scarf is entirely hand sewn.

The soft rumpled pebbly texture is a result of making the hat and scarf complete with decoration from unwashed new fabrics, then washing aggressively to intentionally shrink them after completion. It can be a risky experimental technique, but oh so fun when it works as it did with this set.

Great for the cross-country skier, casual wear, lively office, or to feed one's inner pixie spirit. For me anyway it gives a bright, sprightly vibe.

Hat fits a size 21 1/2 to 22 1/2 inch (55cm to 57cm) head with ease and can be pulled over ears.

Scarf is 68 inches (173 cm) long; width varies from approx 4 1/2 inches (11.5cm) to 5 1/2 inches (14 cm).

Care: Store hat flat or on hatstand. Roll scarf or hang on towel bar/or hanger. Clean by brushing with a soft bristled brush, an adhesive lint roller, or vacuum gently with a soft hand held brush attachment. May be hand washed in cool water, hand press out water (no wringing)- roll in towel, then hang or lay flat to dry. May also be machine washed in laundry bag on delicate cycle, cold water. Do not machine dry unless more shrinkage is desired.
