Moonlight Glow Luna Moth Hair Pins

Description

A pair of delicate luna moths, glowing softly as if by moonlight, rest on a set of bobby pins.


I've created these highly detailed luna moths entirely by hand, using carving and molding techniques. They are made of mint green polymer clay (a durable, heat-cured plastic compound). I've given the moths a pearly, shimmery surface treatment and have painted the tiny details carefully. They are sealed with an acrylic gloss for subtle shine and protection. Best of all--their tiny antennae are made of feathery threads that are soft to the touch.

The hairpins measure approximately 2 1/4" in length. The moths measure approximately 1 1/4" from wingtip to wingtip, and are 1 1/4" long from the tops of their antennae to the tips of their tails. While the moths are durable, their tail tips are also slender and will need to be treated gently; take care to avoid bending or flexing them unnecessarily.

*NOTE* If you would like to wear both of these on one side of your head, let me know and I will change the orientation likewise. (specify if you will be wearing them on the left or right side of your head.) As they are, they each face in opposite directions, so one can be worn on the left side, and one on the right.

This is a truly unique set of hair pins showcasing a most beloved moth species. Luna moths are hard to find and are a joy to behold should you be lucky enough to spot one.
