I think I always did that. Knotting a length of cotton cord or wool yarn around my wrist and wearing it as a jewel. Quite logically, my husband offered me – on the very day we got married – a beautiful designer's bracelet made of a waxed cotton cord with a silver disk. So we tied the knot twice on the same day… Later on, when our daughter was born, we tied around her delicate wrist a teeny-weeny lucky bracelet I had carefully made for her with a thin cotton cord and a delicate jade plate. Hers is a one of a kind piece the like of which I’ll never make again, but I soon was asked to make similar bracelets for newborns and mothers-to-be so it kind of became my signature. Jade has always been considered a sacred protective stone, as for the donut – or bi – shape, I chose it above any other because of the strong symbols it carries : the bi disk actually represents the fundamental creation and the Universe.

For this version of my signature Lune de Jade bracelet, I selected a gorgeous silk cord made by the famous French company « Au Ver à Soie® ». It’s washable and wonderfully soft but tends to stretch a bit, so be sure to tighten the knots every now and again. To put your bracelet on, just slide both knots away to make it larger. Slip it on your wrist and adjust the bracelet by sliding the knots closer again. You’re done !

Note that the cord is strong and may be washed (I wear my bracelet at all times, including under the shower) but that it will slightly fade over time and eventually get thinner around the stone. J’ai toujours noué autour de mon poignet des petits brins de coton ou de laine, aussi précieux à mes yeux qu’un vrai bijou. Très logiquement, le jour de notre mariage, mon mari m’a offert un ravissant bracelet de créateur portant un disque d’argent sur un cordon de coton ciré. Lorsque notre fille est née, nous avons glissé à son poignet le minuscule bracelet créé pour elle et qui porte son nom, une délicate plaque de jade sur un fin cordon de coton blanc. Le sien est unique, mais on m’a vite demandé de refaire le modèle pour des nouveaux-nés ou des futures mamans. Je me suis donc exécutée et ce bracelet est en quelque sorte devenu ma marque de fabrique…
Ce bracelet porte-bonheur est doublement symbolique : de tous temps, le jade a été considéré comme une pierre sacrée et protectrice, et le disque bi représente – entre autres – la création originelle et l’univers céleste.

Pour cette version « soie » du bracelet Lune de Jade, j’ai choisi un magnifique cordon du Ver à Soie®. Il est lavable et très doux sur la peau, mais la soie étant une fibre élastique qui a tendance à s’allonger, vérifiez de temps en temps que les nœuds sont bien serrés. Pour mettre le bracelet, il suffit de l’élargir en faisant coulisser les nœuds, puis de le resserrer de la même façon.

Le cordon est lavable (je porte mon bracelet en permanence, y compris sous la douche) et très résistant, toutefois si vous le portez souvent, il va progressivement pâlir et s’affiner aux points de frottement. Ce bracelet est également proposé en version coton pour nouveau-né et enfant, ainsi qu’en duo pour future ou jeune maman et nouveau-né ou enfant. **
