Description

This is a photographic still from a stop-motion animation I made in 2009 called "once upon a spacetime". The animation follows the story of Alice falling down the rabbit hole, but in this instance the rabbit hole is the black hole at the centre of the galaxy. Along the way, Alice falls past a number of other historic literary figures including the Kraken, as they too are pulled into the whirlpool.

The animation was produced using lithograpy, linocut and solvent transfer printing on paper to make the models, which were then photographed digitally, one frame at a time on a multiplane setup.

This work has been produced as an edition of 20 by a professional photographic printer. The Lustre photography paper measures 30.5x45.7cm (12x18"), with the image area measuring 24.5x44.5cm (9.6x17.5").
