the quilter in yellow
Description
The quilter is embroidered in slate and yellow on beautiful homespun linen that is between 80-120 years old. The woman is holding a needle and thread with a quilt folded over her arm. The quilt is made from the image of a vintage quilt from my collection that was printed onto cotton fabric. The porcelain doll arms are from Germany and were dug from the earth from the grounds of an old doll factory that operated between 1890-1920. The piece is framed in a wooden embroidery hoop that is 3 1/4 inches in diameter. The piece is backed with wool felt and is signed and dated on the back. It hangs with a simple ribbon. If you'd like to read more about the history of the linen you can check out my blog post about it here: http://marysgranddaughter.blogspot.com/2009/06/look-what-i-found.html
