Isabelle's Hill (No. 23, oil on wood, 4 x 4)

Description

This is an original little oil painting from my 2009 series (although this one was actually started in 2008). This is #23 in the series, titled "Isabelle's Hill." Isabelle C. was a very nice old woman who helped my mother one time when she had car trouble, and they became friends. I have a lot of childhood memories of her yard.

This is one of my weathered and aged little paintings. The surface is hand-worn and the beveled edges are matte, not glossy. Personally, I really love making these "aged" ones: I paint them, sand them, paint them, sand them...it's a reductive as well as additive process, as they say in artsy-talk.

This piece is a square and measures about 4 inches across. The painting is signed, dated, numbered and titled on the reverse. There is a sawtooth hanger on the back which makes hanging very easy.

These one-of-a-kind little paintings are nice to hang in a cozy nook or small space in your home, above your desk, or any spot where you need a little window to another land.
