This listing is for the one encaustic. I have two available of this image. They are the top two in the first photograph. If you have a preference please let me know. I also have this image available in 3.75 inch square.

I love to collect interesting photographs and I’ve gathered some of my favorites to create original little art pieces. This one is two victorian era ladies with the best hats ever. Vintage images were reproduced on the best photographic paper, Hahnemuhle photo rag paper, mounted on wood blocks and then sealed with encaustic.

The mounts are cedar, ready to hang and handmade by fellow etsyian FauxKiss. Images are mounted on the blocks with an archival glue and the mounts are hand stained by me.

Encaustic is a combination of bee’s wax and resin. Unlike bee’s wax alone the resin acts as a hardener and protects the image within. It also creates a slight nude coloring and dreamy coating. The surface can be irregular, raised on the edges and slightly scratchy, which adds to the palimpsest and nostalgia of the images. I’ve noted any particular marks below.

Both the encaustic and the wood blocks are unique, so each final piece is different. The original images are vintage and as far as I know have never been reproduced before. So each piece is one of a kind. That’s why I’ve created a separate listing for all these pieces. Here are this blocks details:
