Description

Spectacular Chinese silver enamel bat Victorian fringe bib necklace! A large ornate Chinese silver openwork pendant in the shape of a bat is covered with amethyst purple enamel with floral accent shapes. Dangling below the pendant on graduated lengths of silver chain are five tiny enamel bat elements. The pendant connects to an elaborate chain of silver filigree flowers with enamel centers alternating with large beetle shaped enamel elements. Dangling as a fringe are more detailed bat stations. The entire necklace is the same on the front as on the back...complete with enamel. Stunning necklace that does not come on the market often!

The necklace measures 16" and is closed with a swivel catch having a screw closure. Very good condition with slight loss to some of the enamel bats but nothing to deter from this rare and beautiful piece. The enamel glows and such a unique Victorian theme! Circa 1890
