Charming Porcelain Bud Candle Holder

Description

This diminutive porcelain piece invites you to cradle it in the palm of your hand to savor its blend of colors and shapes.

It has a nice full-bellied form that is created from 6 petals of porcelain that are colored in shades of aqua, soft baby blue, and chartreuse.It is about 2.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall.

Inside is a built-in candlering to hold a taper, or you can even use the vessel as a teeny tiny vase (the last photo shows a similar piece full of flowers). I'm thinking that it would also be nice next to the sink to hold your rings while you do dishes. The form is intriguing enough to stand alone as a charming tabletop sculpture. I think of a fat spring bulb when I enjoy this piece and a friend of mine says that it reminds her of an artichoke.

My studio overlooks my large perennial and annual garden, and the botanical influence is strong in my work. The color is painted with underglaze colors and fired to over 2200º F in one of my electric kilns.

My work has been shown at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian, and is in the Corning Glassworks Executive Club collection, as well as in private collections across the country and abroad.
