This is a fun painting of two women in a Japanese grocery store, clad in traditional kimonos- yet they are clearly not Japanese! In modern Japan, gaijin (foreigners) are a common site. Not only are you likely to encounter travelers from other countries at your local grocery store, but inevitably a vast array of foreign foods redesigned to fit the Japanese appetite will be present as well. Both are combined in this whimsical painting.
