Alligator Head Letter Opener - Vintage Taxidermy Piece
Description
This is a really cool letter opener, most likely from the 1940's-1960's. It has a real alligator head as the top. This was most likely a Florida souvenir from the aforementioned era. Pieces like these were made regularly for the tourist trade in Florida. They were actually pretty cool! Better than the stuff they offer now anyway. :)This piece is very light. The letter opener part is very light thin wood and is a bit chipped at the end. Still sharp enough to open letters though! :)
There is one small slit in the back of the alligator's head, maybe 1/4" of an inch? Not noticeable or detracting from the piece at all. Entire opener measures 10" long and at the widest part a little under 2" wide.
