Ojo Christmas Tree Ornament--White, Yellow, and Red

The Ojo de Dios, or ‘ojo’ for short, has been a part of my family tradition for years. You see, when my parents were first married, they, like many newlyweds, didn’t exactly have a stockpile of ornaments with which to decorate their first Christmas tree together. So my dad, who grew up in New Mexico, took some sticks, some yarn, and made a bunch of ornaments. Even now, almost forty years and many, many other ornaments later, a few of those first original ojos still adorn our family tree every year. In addition to keeping up the tradition, it seems somehow appropriate to have decorative God’s Eyes watching over us as a decoration for Christmas.

A few steps up from the ojos made from sticks and scrap yarn, this beautiful ornament is made from walnut which has been hand cut, shaped, and finished, then carefully wrapped with luxurious, vibrant white, yellow, and red perle cotton. The completed ojo is supended from a white ribbon by a 14k gold-plated ring. So bring a little of my family tradition to your own home!
