VINTAGE Forget-Me-Not Silk Hand Embroidered 5x13 Panel

So pretty. Way back in the 50’s, when I was young, my artsy crafty grandmother & I would make sachets from these lovely hand embroidered silk panels. The story I was told was that she had inherited them from my Great Aunt Daisy who, being quite the world traveler, had gotten them in either China or Japan on one of her many adventures. Each piece is superbly hand embroidered on a substantive weight of creamy white 100% silk and depicts an array of buttercups, violets or forget-me-not’s. Please check for those auctions

Here I am offering 1 5"x13" silk square of hand embroidered forget me nots with a DARK GREEN leaf color.They are so stunning, the workmanship so uniform excepting the variations ( in color ) from each woman’s skein of silk floss. It’s hard to believe, so I was told, that they were commissioned originally to adorn the boxes of only the most exclusive imported chocolates. Amazing!

That being said, one can easily imagine them being either framed, accenting a very special and elegant quilt, or as my Grandmother and I would do, sachets and small purse/bags. I have made one for my Tarot cards. I’m confident that the Crafty Diva community can find some wonderfully creative uses for these historic gems.

Speaking of History! They are in incredibly good shape & there are only a few with obvious aging, a few discoloration spots. I haven’t washed or mucked about with them in any way save for running the iron over the back to get a smooth photo. Apparently packing them away under the eaves for almost 50 years didn’t do them any real harm at all.

This design measures approx.5x13" I have checked these panels and they appear to be free of blemish, there may be outside of the measured area stitch or pencil marks.

I have not seen anything comparable to these available anywhere else and that’s one of the reasons I’m parting with most of them. I’m sure my Grammy would approve of my making them available to such a creative community and for the pressing reason of paying the enormous bill incurred for the chemotherapy that saved my dear dog's -Mugan- life.
So You Know- We have pets and smokers here I don't want anyone's allergies to go crazy because of us.

That being said...I want you to be happy and if you don't, in fact, mind some age spots-discoloration that shows on the FRONT-, let me know because I have that quality for sale at a discount.
