Pink Cherry Blossom Sake Set for Two

To the Japanese, the perfect petal blossoms of the cherry tree, "sakura", are truly sacred. As the national flower of Japan, it is said that the cherry blossom symbolizes the character of the people as well as their love of all things natural.

I thought that placing them on a sake set was very appropriate. Small sake bottle and two cups, were hand-thrown from stoneware clay on my wheel and trimmed. They were embellished with cherry tree branches and cherry blossoms. The set was glazed in a glossy white, and the blossoms are pink with brown centers. Kampai!
Fired to cone 7 (2262F) it is food/oven/dishwasher safe, but as all hand-made items would prefer the extra care of hand washing. A lovely bridal shower or a hostess gift!

The bottle is 4 3/4" tall and 1 3/4" in diameter.
Each cup is 1 3/4" tall, 2" diameter.
