home of the bird - mixed media tableau

where could the little bird have flown? out into the hollow to find food for the arrival of the babies? oh, how i wish i could fly as she flies... how i wish i could swing on her wee swing...

this is an originally designed mixed media/fiber art tableau, made using an antique wooden dovetailed box. i have wrapped a real branch in a fine cotton, printed with soft wee birds, adding leaves hand stitched from a lovely hand dyed wool and cotton. the nest with eggs is needle felted, using soft merino roving, and the swing has been made using wire wrapped in matching cotton, attached to a real branch for the seat. a lovely recycled vintage cotton has been added for the background of the scene

the entire piece measures about 12" by 8" by 3" deep
