Beetle Wing Necklace - beautiful and scary - steampunk style by ClockworkZero

This is the 3-beetle wing option of my latest design. This stunning chrome green colour is natural! It is an irridescent green-blue - and I've colour matched the wings in this piece for size and shape. This incredible necklace is made with actual beetle wings - that are naturally a brilliant chrome green colour. They are "green Jewel Beetle" wings - from the family Buprestidae and have been used for hundreds of years as jewelry.

a combination of cyberpunk meets steampunk and goth. I can imagine it as part of an elaborate costume worn by the Queen of the Insects. Or perhaps an avid beetle fan - or an entomologist. I'm certain some might find wearing beetle wings a bit scary but they are so beautiful and truly unusual.

The one element of this necklace that really makes amazing is the clicking sound the wings make as they move. Really! It sounds chitonous.

Personally, this is such a dramatic and stunning piece, I would wear it on special occasions or for a night to the theatre. Can you imagine how it would look against a black dress? A bit gothic, noir and victorian all rolled together into an intricate piece.

I have a more complex 5 wing piece currently available in my shop too. This one has 2 layers of star gear washers - the black ones over silver.

The chain is about 15.5inches long with an extension chain that allows you to wear it longer or shorter! I've matched the chain to the main geary-bronze coloured center piece. It is about the same length as the other necklace - from the top of the round piece to the very tip of the bottom-most wing this is about 6cm (2.4 inches) long.
