I say Fricke wheels are the very best value in spinning wheels. You get a great, smooth-operating, quiet wheel that's sturdy, easy to tote, and will grow along with you. I freakin love my Frickes. They're easy to treadle, sturdy, and very flexible. Assembly is simple with excellent instructions. Plus the machined whorl just looks awesome.

The folding Frickes are full-featured, full-sized wheels with full-size bobbins and all the usual ratios. The only difference is that the treadle base folds up for compact storage and transport.

It folds and unfolds quickly just by removing and replacing a pin/nut. Easy peasy lemon squeezie!

-5 spinning ratios on the gorgeous machined aluminum whorl (covers the basics + lace speeds you need a separate kit/flyer for on most wheels)

Frame is various hardwoods, such as ash, white or red oak. Wheel is MDF with an attractive wood grain finish on both sides. The lazy kate shown is the older model; the new one includes a yarn guide.
