PDF easy crochet pattern - Giant Sunflower

Description

This big sunflower is no shrinking violet.
It looks fantastic perched on a big floppy straw hat, ideal for wearing in the garden or just mooching along.

Why not put 3 on a hat and pretend to be a mobile florist shop?

Dark purple shows the colour off really well, so would dark blue or green.


It's big - 8 1/4 inches from petal tip to opposite petal tip, but the thick yarn makes it very quick to crochet.

It also has a handy loop at the back; so you can attach it to a hat band, belt, bag or just about anything else!


For 1 sunflower;

You will need 1x50 gram / 2 oz ball of yellow heavyweight yarn; aran or worsted knitting yarn.
Also half a ball of green and and some oddments of black, brown and beige heavyweight yarn.

Also a 3mm crochet hook,( US size C/2 or a D/3, UK size 11, or whichever hook gives you a 3 1/2 inch diameter over the first 3 rounds of the centre of flower.


Stitches and abbreviations.

You need to know how to do the following sts;

Ch – chain.
Sl St – slip stitch.
Sc – single crochet / UK dc- double crochet.
