A Very Old Dog

I went antiquing in Carlisle PA this week and found the greatest booth with the greatest stuff. In the booth were tons and tons of antique watch chain, watch pins, lockets, all of the stuff I love. I could have gone CRAZY! Unfortunately, the guy's prices were not great. He was pretty expensive, so I had to limit my buying. One thing I could not resist was an antique watch chain with this fabulous dog watch fob. At first I wasn't sure if he was a deer or a dog, but he's a dog and I love him! Another thing I couldn't resist buying was this gorgeous old clip with a branch and leaves. Both of these pieces are gold filled, hollow, and beautiful!

So, I've sterling silver wire-wrapped the dog fob to the leaf clip. From the top of the clip, I've added garnet beads, and anold watch chain (not the one original to the fob, that one was very heavy and didn't work with this necklace). At the top of the watch chain are more garnet beads, an old brass ring on the right side and a watch chain "T" closure on the left side.

This necklace is 17 inches long. The leaf clip and the dog fob add another 2 1/2 inches.
