Going Green Hangs around my neck
Description
So many of us are taking steps to conserve, repurpose and just be smart about our resources. In my quest to do so, I love to use things over again. One such way is using old dishes, bowls ect. The focal point of this pendant is one such item. This was a cracked plate that I enjoyed "hammering" into a great shape. The piece was then polished with a drimmel so that there are no rough edges. The fun begins with a beaded bezel of peyote stitch using size 11 and size 15 japanese seed beads. The colors are green with a hint of blue and lime green. The finishing beadwork is bead embroidery. The bail is a peyote stitch tube. The pendant comes hanging on a soft green silk cord tied at the end.
The design of the "broken plate cabachon" is deep green, lime green and blue and has a slight geometric art deco feel.
I don't think that the plate was vintage, but have not seen it for sale in the regular retail stores!
