This abstract painting is one of a new series of square abstracts on paper - as distillations of landscape - textured colour studies on paper. I find inspiration in the rural environment, in the elemental and ephemeral, the transient colours of the seasons, the environmental signs of corrosion, erosion and gradual decay - crumbling brickwork, old walls, encrusted patinas, waterlines, striations and textural traces, mineral strata, structures exposed to the natural elements.
