Have you tried Kumihimo?

Its a simple and effective way to braid threads to finsh off your latest craft project or to make your own jewellery.These kits will get you started.

Each kit includes Fully Illustrated Instructions, a Durable Disc and Hand Dyed Threads to complete your first braid. Please note that thread type and colour may vary from image.

This kit will make a Round Braid. The colours will form a spiral pattern up the length of the braid. Once you have mastered the basic you can experiment with different threads to vary the finished braid.

Suitable for 7yrs and up.

The discs are designed as a starting kit for people to have a go at Kumihimo and as such the discs are much like the traditional marudai with no numbers.

The threads are in the starting positions. The instructions are both in a diagram and written step by step using directional diagrams.

Relying on numbers to indicates moves limits the types of braids a person can learn to do using a disc. If from the beginning you are developing habits of following directional information you are more likely to be able to progress to producing more intricate braids.

You can number the board if you wish as it can be written on.

This is one of the few crafts that you can still do on a plane.

We make the disc and dye the threads in our studio. Its attached to our shop at Old Petrie Town.
