Three in a bed pincushion.

Description

This pincushion has been made from lovely genuine old fabric in muted colours. The hand made cloth button which decorates the pocket is also an antique.

The pin cushion measures 4 1/2 by 3 inches (11.5cm x 7.5cm) and has a linen lining stuffed with sawdust. I have included some old glass headed pins and a needle to get you started!

The cotton thread and the little dolls in the pocket, which I have turned into thread bobbins, are around 100 years old. The 3 dolls included with the pincushion measure just over an inch (4cm) each and were recently excavated from the ground at the site of a former doll factory in Germany.

These little dolls were originally sold long ago for people to bake in their Christmas puddings as lucky charms. They would be kept and played with by the children of the family.
