Abalone Smudge Bowl

Description

This abalone shell has been turned into a smudge bowl and decorated with beads. Abalone shells have become the most popular container for smudging. It measures about 5 1/4 inches by 4 inches and 1 inches deep.

It is decorated with deerskin suede lacing and has four pony beads representing the four primary Cherokee directions.

Blue (sagonigei) represents the North (Uyvtla)
Red (gigagei) represents the East (Kalvgv)
White (Unega) represents the South (Uganawu)
Black Gvnagei) represents the West (Wudeligv)

The natural holes on the side of the shell allow air to flow in and keep your smudging material smoking.

Like all my products, this has been cleansed with sage and cedar in the Old Way as the tribal Elders taught.
