Description

All objects were hand sewn onto the form.

Made of the memories I held on to and couldn't throw away, odds and ends from my drawers, key chains, buttons, a bag of beads, earrings without a match. These are all things that were destined to go in the trash but made it to an art piece instead. This piece is named for the (former) landfill on Staten Island. It's one of my upcycled wonders! It hangs easily on a wall, or sits nicely on its spinning pedestal. See a video of it in action on my flickr page:

I'm very concerned about environmental issues and the impact chemicals and pollution have on our health. As a result for the month of October 30% of all proceeds from the sale of miss koco's nipple and breast pieces go to the Breast Cancer Fund.

In response to the public health crisis of breast cancer, the Breast Cancer Fund identifies – and advocates for elimination of – the environmental and other preventable causes of the disease.

Fresh Kills has been exhibited at the Plastic Club (Think Green, 4/2009, Philadelphia) and at the Cheltenham Art Center (BreastStrokes, 9/2008).
