Blue Cocktail Hat Fascinator Origami Crane, french netting and goose feathers--Tink's challenge

I made this hat as part of a challenge set by Tinkersshop.etsy.com. She sent us all a pack of vintage paper products and told them to make whatever we could out of them. The paper crane on this hat was made from one of her papers.

Paper cranes are symbols of good luck. Making thousand of them is supposed to make your wish come true. They also became symbols of peace after a young Japanese girl died of leukemia from radiation ten years after the Hiroshima bombings. She folded almost a thousand cranes before her death.

Wear this paper crane fascinator for long, and to signal your commitment to world-wide peace and harmony. The paper crane has been treated with a varnish to protect it, but I would not recommend wearing this hat in the rain.

Hat base is made from hand blocked buckram covered in felt and dupioni silk. The crane sits on a nest made from french netting and goose feathers. Hat attaches to the head with a plastic comb attached to the bottom of the hat.
