Yeti, birch bark mask with shell accents

Description

This is for a birch bark mask. It is full sized, meaning that it will fit an average sized adult face, and its title is “Yeti”. The base is papier mache that has been covered with pieces of real birch bark. It has three fans of genuine emu feathers and two shells dangle on beige thread among the lower left one.. This is one of a series of birch bark masks I have made but I hand-make each mask base and then individually design and hand-cut each one. The bark is a natural product so each piece is different, and so, they are all unique art pieces. The inside is a rust brown.
This piece is 9” wide, 4” high and around 2” deep. The feathers vary between 4” and 9” long. The sheer, variegated pink ribbon ties are 15” long. A 2 1/2” hanging loop, in the same ribbon, is visible from the top. (it can be tucked inside, if worn, or removed, if you prefer) It is signed and titled on the inside.
It may look fragile, but my masks are quite sturdy, my crafting method means they are more flexible than most Venetian ones, but just as strong. The birch bark, that covers the surface, is natural and is somewhat fragile. (some of the layers are loose, as is normal for birch bark) It can be worn and displayed, but should be handled in a mindful fashion, to keep it looking it's best. Also, keep it away from high levels of moisture. Each of my masks are hand-cut for both the edges and the eye-holes so they will vary from piece to piece.

The colour of birch bark is in the same range as most paler skin tones. The effect of this is, when worn the mask blends in, changing the face, rather than reading as a mask. They turn any man or woman into the perfect forest fairy! The abundance of feathers and large size mean that this mask also makes a striking display piece.
