The South African import known as the white calla lily is neither a calla or a lily. It's a zantedeschia, a flowering plant that produces large, showy flowers that are surprisingly hardy.

It's evocative - some say provocative - lines are instantly recognizable thanks to the art and genius of Georgia O'Keefe and Diego Rivera.

The pendant that centers this 18-inch goldplate necklace is a black stone calla lily with a cultured pearl heart. Black stone is an ink-colored gemstone that closely resembles black onyx but it has a matte finish.
