Celtic Unicorn Rampant Original Sculpture

I’m proud to be a Celt of Scots-Irish descent. My work is inspired by tribal lore passed down through a hundred generations. Unicorns are Scottish in origin, and up until early in the 17th century, two were featured on the Scottish coat-of-arms.

It's thought that many mystical beasts of Medieval lore were derived from the remains of dinosaurs. The Celts were baffled and frightened by the bones of ancient creatures, and just as we do today, they tried to reconstruct what the creature might look like based on its fossilized remains. Thus the long horn of a dinosaur became the horn of a unicorn.

This is my original hand sculpted Celtic unicorn in solid sterling silver. It measures approximately 1 and ¼ inches from nose to tail. This piece is cast from the original, which was sculpted in precious metal clay.

I am making this work available in limited numbers to appreciative buyers who understand and value the work of American artists. Please understand that each casting is oxidized and lovingly hand buffed by me to bring out the fine detail of the sculpture. It takes many hours to create a single cast item.

This piece should be worn with care. It is not recommended for small children due to the sharp horn and delicate features. Seller is not responsible for breakage.
