The Bag Hat is an old favorite of mine. A few years ago an artist friend (the namesake of the pattern), handed me a sketch and said "Can you knit this?"

Then everybody wanted one. They should all learn how to knit.

You can also hide things in the baggy part - like your phone, or a small critter.

Yarn: Classic Elite “Zoom” – 3 balls color A, 1 ball color B [50% Alpaca, 50% wool, 52 yards/ball], or other heavy worsted weight (I believe Zoom is actually discontinued)

Needles and Notions: Size 9 US [5.5mm] 16” circular and dpns, 8 stitch markers

Gauge: 4 sts/inch in stockinette
