Brooklyn Chinoiserie Anything Goes Bowl

Description

The Orient used to a be a far away, exotic place for Europeans. The Willow pattern was a British invention. For fun and fantasy, I brought some Brooklyn flavor to the Anglo-Chinese mix. The obligatory water tower and Manhattan Bridge - the direct link to Chinatown in Brooklyn. Globalisation on a plate.

Porcelain slip on stoneware (poor man's porcelain) with custom embossed designs. The pattern is a traditional Chinese transfer print technique. High fire to cone 8 in an electric kiln.

Bowl measures 9"D x 2"D. It is a great bowl for your ramen, salad or Chinese takeaways.

No problem in dishwasher or reheating gently in the microwave.
