Darling Sterling Silver Fish Charm and Cat Bell

I never intended to make jewelry for my cat, Six. I don't tend to dress her in baby clothing and call her "precious". She is an awesome companion, and constantly underfoot; and for our mutual survival, she has always sported a bell on her collar.

The problem is--she also has an allergy to nickel. This is not an uncommon allergy and left me with visits to the Vet that for a long time while her perpetual rash/infected chin went undiagnosed... until I thought of my own skin sensitivities and hunted components to make a fantastic bell for her.

Did you know that it is nearly impossible to find a nickel-free cat bell? Did you know it is just as hard to find decent sounding, small bells intended for human jewelry that also aren't made with nickel?

So I present to you my solution:
I've sourced some simple Balinese sterling bells, that do have a lovely, light, sound and then combined them with a small puffed fish charm and another charm with (of course!) moonstone to make an effective, but pleasant noisemaker for your cat. Know if she's hiding under the bed, or just about to headbut your winter boots... before you step on her.

Nevermind that it is also just beautiful... and yes, I suppose it is jewelry for your cat. :)

I have left the sturdy jump ring slightly gapped so that it will be easy for you to attach the bell to your cat's favorite collar (collar not included), and you will need a pair of pliers to assist. The jump ring is made of a very stiff and thick sterling wire that should stand up to years of scratching, petting, and tearing around the house.
