Shimmering clouds of mystic black spinel, accented with pale grey labradorite, float above an elongated labradorite teardrop briolette.

The briolette is a deep, thundercloud grey with cloudy silver swirls. It has just a hint of labradorescence. It weighs just over 13 carats and measures 19 mm in length.

I hung the briolette from a chain of sterling silver, and then decorated the links with shimmering mystic black spinel, and pale grey labradorite. Each of the little 2 to 3mm rondelles is suspended individually on sterling silver pins to move freely with you, for a dancing sparkle.

The pendant is 2.5 inches (6.25 cm) long, and hangs on a fine-linked sterling cable chain, which I have customized with an asymmetrical row of spinel and labradorite, at collarbone length. It is about 19 inches (4.5 cm) long, and is finished with a swansneck hook clasp in sterling silver.

Labradorite is a grey to black feldspar known for its spectacular iridescent flashes of color, which are called
“labradorescence”, or "schiller". The color flash changes in different lights, and can be blue, green, red, yellow, or even pink. The stone often has speckled black inclusions. In some lights, labradorite actually seems to catch fire. I love this rock.

The natural black spinels have been given a mystic coating, which adds an iridescent shimmer to their sparkling blackness.
