Emerald Glade

Description

Inspired by the vibrancy of foliage after a rain storm. This is soft but firmly felted piece in shades of deep green, emerald and a splash of aqua.

Hand-crafted using a wet felting technique, each piece is a spontaneous creation and one of a kind. Starting life as a tiny seed of wool fibre, growing outwards and upwards an organic alchemy of fleece and hands.

An ongoing creative process, the variety of the form allows you to create, draping, wrapping and twisting. I have felted knotholes into this piece which allows strands to be passed through and looped around, they serve to anchor the felt in position.

Size: This piece is approximately 1.7 metres / 5'7"

Colours: Forest green, emerald, aqua and teal.

*A NOTE ABOUT MERINO WOOL*
I was saddened to learn about the practice of museling on Merino Sheep in Australia, as a result of this I am now guaranteeing that all of my work is created with non-museled Merino wool fibre.
Things are gradually changing for the Aussie Merino's but until I'm 100% sure I won't be using it.
