Description

Luminous rutilated quartz is the centerpiece of this pendant necklace, shaped into a one-of-a-kind piece by Gary Wilson. This pendant is an elegant soft triangle, with two faces that are softly rounded. Both sides are equally beautiful, so there's no "back" or "front" to this piece. Rutile is a mineral that grows alone or within other minerals, forming needle-like crystals of gold, copper or black. When it is found intergrown with quartz, the result is a stone that's full of dynamic energy. If you hold this pendant in the sunlight, the light travels along the needles in a fascinating way.

Because this pendant really speaks for itself, I complemented it with a simple strand of beads that supported its color. There are more rondelles of rutilated quartz on the strand, and bronze-silver-gold freshwater pearls, and a single natural pyrite crystal. Smaller beads include sterling silver heishe, faceted brass, sterling spacers, and the rest are all tiny, freshwater seed pearls. The strand is gathered together at the base with a wrap of sterling silver wire.

Size: 17 1/2" from the nape of the neck to the base of the pendant. The total strand length is 30", and the pendant measures 2 1/8" x 1 3/8" x 3/8" thick.

Care: None is needed except to use caution with pearls and natural crystal. It may be gently rinsed with lukewarm water and hand-dried to clean.
