25 Hawthorn elder futhark runes for divination with pouch and instructions

The Runes

These are beautiful handmade runes - sawn (by hand) from the same piece of hawthorn. The bushes to which this wood belonged was blown down earlier in the year and chopped up - so I rescued what I could from the bonfire pile. They are sanded smooth and the rune symbols are burnt onto the wood, rather than painted on, so this set will last for a very long time! They come with their own handmade pouch (colour may vary form the one pictured) and our booklet - the beginner's guide to the runes.
The runes are of the Elder Futhark system and as such include 25 runes - 24 runes and a blank that may be used as 'odin's rune' or as a spare in case of loss.

Hawthorn

Hawthorn is a hard wood with many sharp thorns for protection, and thus is associated with strong boundaries and personal protection. It is strongly associated in folklore with the fey, it is thought that if you fall asleep under a hawthorn tree you will wake up in fairyland. Use runes of hawthorn if you want to develop a connection with the fey.
