Description

Your friends and neighbors may have handbags with dogs, cats, or birds ... but how many of them have a handbag with the only mammal that can lick its own ears inside and out? The Okapi is a striped herbivore native to the Democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa. It's such a cool animal that I just couldn't resist making an Okapi handbag. Really, its tongue is blue ... it doesn't get much better than that.

I made this bag with fabric designed and printed by another wonderful Etsy seller, RobotPickle. Her designs are simple, elegant ... and brilliantly obscure! You can see more of her designs at http://RobotPickle.etsy.com

Dark pink okapis graze on a dark gray background. The words "Oo" and "Okapi" are printed in a light red. I added a contrasting print of yellow with white polka dots to the edges of the bag and a bright red ribbon for some extra color. I love how the design of the bag looks so elegant from afar .... and so quirky up close!

I made the inside of the bag in a super soft organic cotton in white. I added a handy inner pocket. There is a magnetic snap closure to keep all of your stuff secure. The rectangle handles are a beautiful, rich wood which compliment the bag so well.

The purse is the perfect size to carry all of your essentials without being too bulky. Its unique, rounded shape helps you carry even more in a small space. It has a double layer of interfacing so that it will keep its shape.

Size: approx. 15" at its widest point, 12" at the opening, 7" tall (not including the handles), 10.5" tall (including the handles)
(approx. 38 cm at its widest point, 31 cm at the opening, 18 cm tall (not including the handles), 27 cm tall (including the handles))

Note: Because of the way this fabric is printed, there may be some inconsistencies in the print. If there was some fuzz where the paint was pulled on to the fabric, there will be a small speck of un-painted fabric in the print. This happens with many fabrics, but it is easiest to notice in these dark prints.
