Description

I got a great deal on these gorgeous cameo blue envelopes with paper lining and am passing the deal on ... You will receive the 4 envelopes pictured here, which measure 6.5 x 9". You will also receive 4 pieces of handmade paper embedded with wildflower seeds. The handmade paper has flecks of blue confetti to match the envelopes. This set would make a very special note to give to a couple getting married so they can plant your words and grow flowers to commemorate their special day.

Since 1994, I have been making paper by hand using ancient paper-making techniques. I now incorporate perennial seeds into the paper so that once you have used this paper, you can recycle it by planting it.

The mix of perennials seeds include baby blue eyes, baby’s breath, candytuft, larkspur, five spot (nemopila), clarkia, coreopsis, blue flax, forget-me-not, purple cone flower, shasta daisy, siberian wallflower and sweet william, as well as others.

This paper began its life as a tree, then spent its second life as bills, junk mail and other forms of paper. I sorted through the paper and chose the highest-quality pieces to shred, make into a pulp and reform into a new piece of paper. (You have to start with high quality paper to end with high quality paper!)

Because I recycled previously written-on paper, I have created new paper that already has sizing in it. This means that you can write on it and the ink won't feather or bleed. After this paper has been used, it can be planted and begin its fourth life as bed of gorgeous flowers!

Simply rake the soil, scatter the paper onto the soil, cover with 1/4 inch of topsoil, water and keep moist until germination, approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

Take a look at the last photo to see a sample of my saffron plantable paper that is growing on my window sill! The paper comes with the following insert:

In this paper, little seeds lay asleep,
Waiting to be planted in soil 1/4 inch deep.
Water well then keep moist for 4 to 6 weeks.
Until little plants come out of the soil for a peek.
Many flowers will share their colors to the max.
Like baby blue eyes, purple cone flower and
blue flax!
