Modern Love

The thing that George Meredith's 1862 collection of sonnets, entitled Modern Love, always confirms for me is that the idea of "modern" love is hardly modern idea. Each age thinks it has the claim to modernity, with all the good or ill that that entails.

This necklace, I think, just like love or "modernity" has a timeless quality about it; it at once has an antique air while being quite up-to-date. Elegant in its simplicity, "Modern Love" is composed of a gorgeous, chunky, faceted rock crystal (crystal quartz) briolette, wire-wrapped and hanging from a pretty antiqued brass chain, 17 and a half inches in length. This necklace is not loud, but it has lots of impact, and looks fabulous with a wide variety of outfits. I liked it so much I made myself one, and I wear it constantly.
