Maple Button

Description

This button is made of white stoneware clay fired to cone 6. It would work well as a closure for a bag or shawl.

It measures roughly 2 inches(50mm) across. It is 1/8th of an inch thick (3mm). This button was formed free of any templates, therefore the shape is somewhat round and organic. There is no glaze on this button.

The clay was imprinted with real leaves. It was painted and rubbed with iron oxide to intensify the veins of the leaves. All colors are permanent. The leaves used were sugar maple and bracken fern.
