The Solitary Reaper
Description
"Behold her, single in the field,Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound."
--William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth set out in his poetry to show the extraordinary beauty of ordinary things.
This little necklace makes me think of that attempt. Captured within the crystalline walls of this simple pendant is an intricate web of beauty--it reminds me at one and the same time of mist upon a heath or the sheaves of grain that the singing reaper might collect. This necklace is a single step-faceted moss quartz (not glass) pendant with beautiful depth and character, wire wrapped and hung from an antiqued brass chain and finished with a brass lobster-claw clasp. The chain measures 18 and a half inches in length, the pendant is an inch and a quarter in length, not counting the bale.
Simple, striking, and anything but ordinary.
