FORTY-FIVE: Always with you

“Are you really going to go away now?” she asked in a small voice. It was common knowledge that, on All Halllow’s Eve, the new-dead souls gathered, ready to move on to the next place. Grandmother Nell nodded, almost imperceptibly.

“I won’t be far, though,” she smiled, and Laluna could not help but smile back, though it was wavery. “You know I’m always with you.”

Laluna remembered her personal disaster, then, and the guilt was so great in her heart that she had to tell her: “I…I made a mess of things. Ye Olde Potions won’t be able to –“

“What?” asked Grandmother Nell, peering down at her, frowning. “Why is it still called ‘Ye Olde Potions’?”

Laluna was silent for a long moment, then shook her head: “I don’t understand.”
