“What are you going to do now? With the shop, I mean.” He glanced at her apologetically. “I heard."

She smiled at him. “I’m going to transform Ye Olde Potions into something more my style,” she said, and cocked her witch’s hat at a jaunty angle.

“Ye Olde Cupcakes?” he laughed, joking, but she joined in with him.

“Yes,” she agreed, laughter coloring the air as brightly as golden leaves, squeezing his arm.

“They’ll be magical, those cupcakes…”

“Yes,” she said, again, smiling up at the brightening sky, perfectly content. “They will be.” It was not so much a statement as a promise.
