Kansas Slate-colored junco

Description

After a 4 month separation from my printmaking tools, I am celebrating the reunion with a 4 x 4 series: four wildlife studies (bird, reptile, insect, plant) for four states I've lived in (Idaho, Alabama, Kansas, Texas). I lived in Lawrence, Kansas, for 3 years while attending school - and most of my time was spent prowling the nearby wetlands.

My last year in Lawrence, I lived in a little house on the east side of town. East Lawrence is a lovely area with plenty of parks and big old trees, and, probably because of this, my yard feeders always turned up a sweet variety of songbirds. During the winter I had a reliable flock of 30 or so juncos whose hops & scratches easily made them my favorites.

This original hand-pulled print is 3" x 3", on 4" x 5" Japanese kozo-shi paper. Each piece is signed and dated by the artist.
