Still sealed vintage 1930s coat / dress pattern - Blackmore 5844

....Was it a coat or a dress? Irene liked to wear it as both, but sometimes forgot which she was wearing. She'd been taken to Maxim's for dinner, and the Maitre d' had offered to take her coat. Absent mindedly she'd handed it over, leaving her standing there in her silk slip. Still, it had been a rather nice silk slip, edged with lace and with flutter sleeves. It had been modest enough, so she'd simply walked tall and carried it off beatifully. But now, she thought with annoyance, every woman in Maxim's wore an identical slip. It seemed she'd started a trend....

1930s pattern by Blackmore for an 'Overall'- make and wear it as a coat or a dress.
Fullness is gathered into the bust darts. Lapels, long sleeves, pockets and fitted waist with flared skirt.

Although this is a beautiful pattern, I'd recommend it for sewers who have some sewing experience (especially working with vintage patterns). This is because there is no technical line drawing/schematic and because the only instructions provided in Blackmore patterns are the text on the back of the packet (see photos).

NOTE: This pattern states "allow half-an-inch extra for turning on all seams- no turning are included on the pattern". Basically, this means that there is no seam allowance included.

This pattern packet is still sealed shut and has never been opened! The envelope has some wear and rumpling, but is otherwise in reasonably good condition for its age.
(Pattern pieces from Blackmore patterns of this period are pre-cut to size and unprinted.)
