Vintage 1930s / 1940s dress pattern - Blackmore 5755

....The book store was heaving. Just about everyone in town had turned up for the book reading and subsequent signing. Joan edged her way in clutching her copy. The book store owner smiled at the crowd from the makeshift podium. "With great pleasure I'd like to ask Miss Summers to read from her bestselling novel- Zen and the art of dressmaking." It was now or never. Joan took a breath and walked up to the podium. She cut a graceful figure as she stood there and smiled at the throng of faces. "I'd like to thank you all for coming today..."

Dress has short full gathered sleeves, draped gathered bodice details and gored skirt.

Although this is a beautiful pattern, I'd recommend it for sewers who have some sewing experience (especially working with vintage patterns). This is because there is no technical line drawing/schematic and because the only instructions provided in Blackmore patterns are the text on the back of the packet (see photos).

NOTE: This pattern states "allow half-an-inch extra for turnings". Basically, this means that there is no seam allowance included.

Medium: 36" bust. (Note that seam allowance is not included in the pattern pieces- see our note above.)


CONDITION:

Although the packet has been slit open along the top, pieces are still in their original factory folds! (Pattern pieces, like all Blackmore patterns of this period, are pre-cut to size and unprinted.)
The envelope has some wear and age spotting, but is otherwise in reasonably good condition for its age.
