Historically Walpurgis Night is derived from various pagan spring customs and is related to the Celtic festival of Beltane also known as: Mayday, Walburga, Galan Mai, Shenn da Boaldyn, Bealtinne, Beltine, Beltain, Beal-tine, Beltan, Bel-tien, Beltein, Bealtuinn and Bealtaine.
